SALARY:

 

$70,720 - $86,736 per year. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

Primary Purpose

Provide brief counseling/therapy to RVU students to address mental health, developmental, relational and other concerns. Assist in planning and facilitating mental health outreach and wellness programming.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide direct services, including mental health counseling/therapy, risk assessment and crisis intervention, and confidential consultation within a brief model to help students identify, understand, and make changes to factors affecting their quality of life, education, and/or work performance. – 60%
  • Provide indirect services, including: warm referrals to off-campus mental health services and related providers; coordination of care with medication providers; the maintenance of a high-quality, financially accessible referral list; and the completion and maintenance of confidential documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with Federal and State regulations as well as ethical standards. – 25%
  • Work successfully and sensitively with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, faculty, and staff to develop and implement mental health outreach programs and collaborate with colleagues and students on wellness programming. Build rapport and inspire confidence to attract students who could benefit from services. Help build a culture that respects, values, and promotes inclusive excellence. – 5%
  • Engage in regular meetings and collaboration with colleagues. – 10%
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Mental Health & Wellness Services.

Marginal Job Functions

  • Assist administration, faculty and staff in special projects as required.
  • Participate in continuing education relative to the needs of the student population and network effectively with regional and national organizations.
  • Participate on University committees and regularly schedule meetings as requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong therapeutic skills required, including risk assessment skills, ability to set appropriate therapeutic goals and boundaries, warm referral skillss, and skills in maintaining documentation of services in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated track record of working with diverse communities and valuing equity, diversity; commitment to contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in crisis intervention, outreach, and brief treatment modalities.
  • Knowledge of substance use concerns and ability to assess risk related to serious mental illness is necessary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree (MSW, MA, MS, Med) from an accredited institution in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social work or other related field.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a mental health provider in Colorado, with independent licensure required within three (3) years of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current independent licensure in CO and ability to obtain independent licensure in UT or privilege to practice in UT within six (6) months of hire.
  • Prior experience in a university counseling center.
  • Experience in case-managing clients with substance use, severe mental illness, and/or significant risk factors.
  • Demonstrated multicultural and diversity competency.
