We are looking for someone to help establish the Montana College of Veterinary Medicine, a branch campus of Rocky Vista University.

SALARY:

 

$102,000 - $142,000 per year, depending on rank and experience. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials. Specifically, Faculty salary is determined by these factors as well as Faculty Rank which will be determined by the RVU Rank and Promotion committee

Primary Purpose

This Veterinary and Interprofessional Research faculty position will participate in scholarly activities (75%), teaching, and service for Rocky Vista University, College of Veterinary Medicine (RVUCVM) located in Billings, Montana. Teaching responsibilities will include Introduction to Research and development/mentoring of Student Research opportunities and experiences. This position will develop and grow a robust research and graduate studies program for RVUCVM. This research faculty position will be expected to successfully obtain external funding to grow and sustain this vital piece of the overall RVUCVM program.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide education, mentorship, and guidance to all veterinary students at the Montana RVUCVM campus in a variety of settings, including the classroom, laboratory, and simulation center in the areas of research.
  • Participate in creation and delivery of all aspects of research in the CVM curriculum.
  • Participate in all methods of curriculum delivery including, but not limited to, video presentations, live in-person and virtual teaching, labs, small groups, and simulation activities.
  • Maintain discipline expertise through continuing professional education.
  • Provide service to the University and the greater community by serving on committees, providing leadership, participating in community outreach events and working with professional organizations or groups.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, enthusiasm, and the willingness to assist the University in fulfilling its mission and vision.
  • Participate in curriculum development, delivery, assessment, and modification including IPE with Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine (MCOM) Faculty.
  • Engage in scholarly activity including mentorship of student efforts in research and IPR with MCOM Faculty.
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students, provide feedback and remedial assistance to ensure that the students of the RVUCVM meet the standards established by the faculty and college and obtain the knowledge, skills and competency established.
  • Participate in the assessment or evaluation of, and provide feedback to, other members of the faculty.
  • Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior in all aspects of professional actions and performance. Know and model the RVU Core Values in all aspects of work on and off campus.
  • Demonstrate and model an ongoing ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, support staff, and students.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and skills in the delivery of veterinary medical education.
  • Knowledge and skills in the area of studied expertise.
  • Knowledge of varied curriculum templates.
  • Ability to mentor and motivate students and peers.
  • Ability to work independently to perform tasks, investigate and solve problems.
  • Ability to integrate and analyze large data sets from multiple sources such as surveys, the census, administrative data files as well as raw research data.
  • Ability to create and use statistical algorithms to answer complex research questions.
  • Provide classroom instruction in statistical and research methods.
  • Knowledge and experience creating confidential and public analytical survey files including survey data quality control and augmentations.
  • Ability to use SAS (Statistical Analysis System) database programming which includes data access, data retrieval, data management, data analysis, and data presentation.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate in oral and written form with all levels of people including Principal Investigators, Project Managers, Students and Colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal degree (DVM and PhD) from an accredited institution with current Board Certification in appropriate area of specialization.
  • One (1) year of academic experience teaching at an institution of higher education.
  • Demonstrated productivity in the areas of clinical or professional service, scholarly activity, medical research, or education.
  • Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies, as applicable.
  • Eligible for coverage by college’s malpractice insurer, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of academic experience as a faculty member at a veterinary medical school.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in professional or educational settings.
  • Demonstration of grant funding and published works of scholarly activity.
