SALARY:

 

$27.20 - $33.00 per hour. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

Primary Purpose

The Facilities & Grounds Senior Technician supports the planning, coordination, and maintenance of RVU's Facilities and Grounds on the Rocky Vista University Montana Campus. Reporting to the Manager of Facilities & Grounds, this role includes mentoring Technicians, performing building and equipment maintenance, managing event logistics, and coordinating with various contractors. The Senior Technician ensures work is documented, prioritized, and completed safely and to standard.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and preventive maintenance on all facilities and grounds equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and consumables.
  • Collaborate with contractors, vendors, staff, and faculty to support campus operations.
  • Assist in planning and decision-making to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of the Montana campus Facilities and Grounds.
  • Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and safety systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Help develop and manage maintenance schedules and project timelines.
  • Recommend improvements related to contracted services and oversee their work (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping).
  • Monitor and maintain the HVAC Building Management System (BMS).
  • Submit deferred maintenance requests and support 24/7 operational planning for campus needs.
  • Ensure proper operation and upkeep of university vehicles and equipment.
  • Support event logistics, including setups, teardowns, and clean-up.
  • Oversee landscaping projects and seasonal grounds care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Marginal Job Functions

  • Assist administration, faculty and staff in special projects as needed.
  • Continue education programs through electrical vendors, keeping RVU up to code standards related to electrical needs currently and in the future.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of facilities systems, grounds maintenance, and snow removal.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and facility management software.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks, develop processes, and follow through.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate across departments.
  • Professional demeanor with discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Effective team player with strong time management and the ability to work independently.
  • Physically capable of performing demanding tasks throughout the workday and in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to assist in building a culture that respects, values, and promotes inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of Facilities Maintenance experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or some college from an accredited institution.
  • Certified or experienced in multiple Trades, like HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Drywall & Paint, Landscaping, or Structural.
  • Experience working within a Medical or Surgical Center facility.
