SALARY:

 

$22.00 - $26.00+ per hour, the posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU’s compensation plan. RVU’s full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range.  The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

Primary Purpose

The Lead Medical Assistant is required to perform all duties of the Medical Assistant and function as a support person to the other Medical Assistants. The Medical Assistant will partner with management and staff to ensure the health center objectives are achieved and help the medical assistants succeed and ensure that all doctors and patients are assisted in a timely and caring manner. The Lead Medical Assistant will assists in providing patient care and training of Medical Assistant. The lead MA will appraise the manager of any know personnel issues. The lead MA, will have both clerical and administrative responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide Direct Patient Services 
  • Assist Health Center Physicians 
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. 
  • Serve and protect the practice by adhering to professional standard, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Enhance practice reputation by participating in marketing events, health fairs etc. May be after hours and on the weekends and participates in recruiting and hiring efforts for clinic.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including helping or substituting for the front desk secretary as needed
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
  • Perform job responsibilities as part of the team; interact well with other members of the team.
  • Participate in team and staff meetings as requested.
  • Provides back up coverage for back office and/or front office as necessary.

Marginal Job Functions

  • Ensure compliance with CLIA waived testing requirements and tracking in lab (including autoclave).
  • Monitor and maintain MSDS/SDS Sheets.
  • Record and monitor vaccine refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
  • Monitor expiration dates on supplies, medications and samples.
  • Verify and update VIS sheets as necessary. (monitor CDC website for updates)
  • Inventory and order supplies and vaccines.
  • Hold bi-weekly or monthly M/A meetings with clinical staff to address/review any necessary items.
  • Provide training to new hires and additional education to all clinical and administrative staff as necessary.
  • Assist manager/director with patient complaints. 10. Review OSHA guidelines annually to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor biohazard compliance.
  • Trouble shoot EMR issues and contact software vendor when necessary for resolution.
  • Provide input for annual performance evaluations.
  • Ability to research and solve issues related to Physicians and staff and approach manager with a solution for resolution.
  • Maintains positive public relation image with peers, patients and visitors by presenting a positive and helpful attitude.
  • Attend and coordinate drug and outside resource (home health, laboratory) meetings for Physicians and provide any necessary educational materials and training for specialty ordering and testing.

  • Have a understanding of: Safety, Infection control, disaster control, and general healthcare policy and procedures.
  • Ability to train and work effectively with other Medical Assistants
  • Strong financial knowledge of supply chain management

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) - three (3) years previous medical assistant experience (not to include externship)
  • Two (2)+ years prior supervisory experience
  • Three (3)+ years experience as a medical assistant
  • One (1) - three (3) years experience in a primary care or internal medicine office
  • One (1) - three (3) years experience with electronic medical records
  • Four (4) - six (6) years plus prior supervisory experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, instructional and coaching ability
