SALARY AND BENEFITS:

 

The posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU’s compensation plan.   RVU’s full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range.  The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

Primary Purpose

Faculty for the department of Physician Assistant Studies’ main role is to deliver curriculum content for the Physician Assistant program. In addition, this position will participate in operations of the program as required by the accrediting body (ARC-PA). 

 

Essential Job Functions

Teaching:

 

1. Serve as course director of pre-clinical and/or clinical phase courses as assigned and based on interest; this includes, but is not limited to:

  1. developing curricular content based on a competency-based medical model,
  2. adhering to accreditation standards (ARC-PA), and
  3. ensuring alignment with program mission and goals

2. Develop and deliver lectures, laboratories, and small group interactive sessions through varied delivery methods

3. Develop, implement, and score competency-based assessments

4. Serve as student advisor to assigned PA students

 

Service:

 

  1. Serve on PA program and University committees according to professional interest and assigned duties.
  2. Attend PA Program faculty meetings, retreats, and accreditation-related events.
  3. Participate in the PA Program’s admissions process.
  4. Participate in activities of state, regional, and national organizations to promote a positive image of the PA concept within academic, lay, and professional communities.

Administration:

  1. Contribute to the Program’s continuous process of self-assessment to ensure quality of the curriculum and program.

Scholarship:

  1. Engage in scholarship and faculty development including original research, publications, presentations, and workshop participation.

Marginal Job Functions

Perform other duties as assigned, and supporting the mission of the program and the university.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Current expertise in one or more curriculum content areas of the MPAS degree
  2. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
  3. Demonstrated ability to adapt to change
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and academic systems (e.g. learning management systems such as Canvas, BlackBoard)

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Current license (or eligibility) to practice in Colorado, if a clinician
  2. Relevant Master’s degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  2. Terminal degree for profession, and related to position (e.g. Master degree for PA, MD/DO for physician;  PhD for scientist)
  3. Experience delivering curriculum content to PA students (clinical or didactic).
  4. Experience using a variety of academic learning systems (Canvas, BlackBoard).
  5. Clinical experience of 3-5 years
